Emery Jacquillat, CEO of CAMIF-Matelsom,

President of the Community of Companies with a Mission

“The mission is a lever of commitment for our collaborators but it is also a lever of economic performance. What is very interesting is the reconciliation between the economy, ecology and social issues. The consumer, the citizen, the collaborator, they are the same person. They are looking for meaning and they want to invest in meeting major challenges. We have 10 years to change the world.”

When Camif (Cooperative of members of French teachers’ mutual insurance companies, created in 1947) was put into liquidation in 2008, Emery Jacquillat, an HEC graduate and founder of Matelson (#1 in online bedding sales in France) decided to relaunch the company by repositioning CAMIF on the manufacture of quality products, “made in France”, with respect for sustainable development, and with a 100% online distribution. By integrating its mission in its statutes, Camif became in 2017 the first French purpose-driven company working for the benefit of people and the planet. Emery Jacquillat advocates for a more positive and responsible economic model, more sustainable and more inclusive. Through the success of CAMIF, he shows us the positive impact of a new form of management in which each collaborator, inspired by the company’s mission, is invited to go and meet his suppliers and colleagues, to participate in the creation of products, as well as in the strategic orientation of the company, notably through the creation of its Mission Committee.

Thank you Mr. Jacquillat for inspiring us by creating the first mission-based company in France.
